In the Stars September 5-12, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

The Sun continues to shine in Virgo for two more weeks, forming a New Moon on Monday, September 6 that trines the awakening planet Uranus. Virgo is sensible, hard-working, and focused. Grounded in its gifts, we can address the tasks before us and get a lot accomplished in the next two weeks. Set new goals at the New Moon having to do with Virgoan themes: health, order, cleanliness, self-improvement, and getting things done.
Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are all retrograde for the next two months, and some of them throughout the rest of 2021. Mercury joins them from September 27 through October 18. Retrograde energy is strong, but more inwardly focused. With all these planets retrograde there may be little progress for the next few months on problems that are looming, both global and personal. This is a good time to pull back and re-think things.

Sunday is a volatile day. The Moon is dark. Venus opposes Pluto and squares Eris; connections with loved ones could meet with difficulties. The Moon ingresses into Virgo at 4:06 p.m., providing reason and revealing solutions. Observe the Sabbath—and rest.
Monday is a promising, busy, fulfilling day, wired for the unexpected, and sporting a New Moon. The two benefics, Venus and Jupiter, are trine in air signs, fostering the expansion of relationships, as well as monetary increase. Mars and Pluto also trine in earth signs (Virgo and Capricorn respectively), giving grounding and tremendous energy to the day. The New Moon trines Uranus, which may sprout new developments. The Sun, Moon, Mars, and Uranus form a potent Grand Trine in Earth signs with Pluto. This is dynamic energy that can make for a powerful day, a powerful week ahead, and can seed a powerful new lunar month. Employ the positive planetary energy and put it to work.
A Moon-Neptune opposition Tuesday morning offers inspiration. The Moon’s trine to Pluto in earth signs then promises a productive day. A Moon-Mars conjunction lights a fire under us to tend to insignificant, routine tasks as the rest of the day the Moon is void of course (12:23 p.m. – 8:20 p.m. PDT).
The Libra Moon sets the stage on Wednesday for a gracious social day. The Moon trines Saturn, affirming productivity and addressing responsibilities. A Moon-Mercury conjunction in the sign that symbolizes mediation and harmony may help work out differences. At least two sides of an issue can be considered and solutions many be negotiated.
Relationship issues that were not resolved yesterday may intensify on Thursday. The nice Libra Moon squares sometimes not-so-nice Pluto. Issues may garner emotional intensity. Passion is fueled as well.
Friday is not the Friday light you probably hoped it would be. Instead, it is full of intensity and strong emotions. Venus ingresses into Scorpio. The Scorpio Moon hooks into the ongoing Saturn-Uranus square, opposing Uranus and squaring Saturn. This is another opportunity to push change forward. Lean in, work hard, listen to your feelings, and expect some twists and turns.
The Moon continues to illuminate the depths of the deeps waters of Scorpio on Saturday, making numerous strong aspects, giving energy to the day. The Moon sextiles the Sun, Mars, and Pluto; trines Neptune; and squares Jupiter. This is a powerful day with lots of opportunity. You could dive deep into a project, or do some self-care. Make the most of it.
Sunday is a buoyant day. The sunny Sagittarius Moon calls us to adventure. Enjoy a hike, perhaps on a new trail.
Neptune plays a strong role on Monday as the visionary planet opposes the Virgo Sun and squares the Sagittarius Moon. These strong Neptune aspects with the luminaries may manifest as confusion or drifting, or they may be illuminating and creative.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
