In the Stars March 16-23 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

March is cosmically quite eventful, holding a Solar and Lunar Eclipse, Mars out-of-bounds, Venus and Mercury retrograde, Spring Equinox, and Neptune moving into Aries.

Thursday, March 20, is the Spring Equinox, the first day of a new cycle with the Sun in Aries. The Sun is exalted in Aries, or strongest of all zodiacal signs. While the Sun is in Aries we gain confidence. We are to be more spontaneous, to be bold, and to take calculated risks, and to be more spontaneous. The Sun will be in this cardinal fire sign until April 19.

Mercury stations retrograde on Saturday, March 15, turning backward until April 6. More clerical and numerical errors are made when Mercury is retrograde, and mechanical and technological breakdowns often occur. Be patient with mix-ups in communication and delays. The next three weeks are good for reviewing, re-thinking, and re-doing.

The Sun is conjunct Neptune this week, and makes an exact conjunction on Wednesday, March 19. This aspect is visionary, expansive, and creative. Imagine possibilities! Bring more beauty into your life. Take a trip to a waterfront for inspiration if that is possible where you live.

Mars is now direct in motion, but still out-of-bounds until April 7. When a planet is out-of-bounds it expresses more erratically and aggressively, and in a more exaggerated way.

Venus is now retrograde through June 7, inviting us to re-assess relationships and values. Venus in Aries invites us to be more active, assertive, and spontaneous.

Mars continues to trine Saturn within a 3-degree orb nearly every day through April 18. This aspect provides focus, precision, and drive. On Tuesday, March 18, the Scorpio Moon forms a Grand Trine with Mars and Saturn, giving more fuel to this strong energy for accomplishment. Work diligently on a project, such as writing and editing an article or book, learning lines or music for a performance, or organizing and streamlining your work space or computer. Proceed assertively with determination and carefulness. Aim for mastery and completion.

We are now in the midst eclipse season. A Total Lunar Eclipse occurred March 13 at 11:54 p.m. PDT at 23 degrees of Virgo tropically. On March 29 a Partial Solar Eclipse will occur at 3:57 a.m. at 9 degrees of Aries. The time in between the two eclipses, March 14-29, is supercharged, so go carefully and stay chill as much as possible.

Neptune will enter Aries on March 30th. This a huge shift, and it will mark a significant change in our collective experience.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
