In the Stars July 21-28, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the astrology of the Week
The Capricorn Moon forms a Full Moon at the last degree of Cancer (29:08) early Sunday morning, July 21, at 3:17 a.m. PDT. The Full Moon makes benefic aspects with the big three transpersonal planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, making this a very potent Full Moon, Four other significant aspects perfect on Sunday, July 21: Venus-Jupiter sextile; Mercury-Uranus square; Sun-Neptune trine; and Mars-Pluto trine, giving high energy, vision, innovative thinking, and expansiveness, making this an active day of powerful energy.
On Monday, July 22 the Sun moves into dramatic Leo, making a strong entry as it opposes Pluto. This Sun-Pluto opposition announces a powerful week with transformative themes.
Chiron, the wounded healer, turns retrograde on Friday, July 26, joining Saturn and Neptune in backward motion.
________
The industrious energy of the Capricorn Moon continues through Sunday morning, July 21, when it forms a Full Moon at the last degree of Cancer (29:08). Sunday’s cosmic energy is extremely active. The Full Moon makes benefic aspects with all of the transpersonal planets: trine to Uranus (and Mars), conjunction with Pluto, and sextile to Neptune. Vision, innovative thinking, and expansion are gifts of these aspects that perfect on Sunday: Venus-Jupiter sextile; Mercury-Uranus square; Sun-Neptune trine; and Mars-Pluto trine. Make the most of this energetic day full of potential. The Moon moves into Aquarius at 4:42 a.m. PDT, inviting us to engage with groups of friends and engage in new cultural experiences.
The Sun moves into Leo on Monday, July 22. It will be a dramatic entry as the Sun opposes Pluto, perhaps heralding a week of transformative change. Perhaps there will be change in the presidential election issues. The Aquarius Moon is trine to Jupiter, giving a boost of confidence. The Moon’s square to Uranus just after midnight Tuesday (PDT) may shake things up Monday evening.
The Moon’s ingress into compassionate Pisces on Tuesday, July 23, normally would lighten things up and ease tension, but the Moon squares Mars, generating some agitation. Ease the tension through creative expression such as writing, playing music, or dancing.
Wednesday, July 24, holds feelings of expansion and limitlessness (Moon square Jupiter), as well as the sense of limitation and responsibility (Moon conjunct Saturn).
We may catch a spark of intuitive insight on Thursday morning, July 25, as the Moon conjuncts Neptune at the last degree of Pisces. Then the Moon moves into Aries where it is bold and active. The Sun sextiles Mars, giving a boost of self-confidence. The Moon makes benefic aspects to the Sun, Mars, and Pluto, adding power and passion to the day. Mercury moves into Virgo for a three-week stay until August 14th, where it will be attentive, pragmatic, and efficient in thought and action.
On Friday, July 26, Chiron, the wounded healer, turns retrograde. When planets turn direction, their themes are amplified. In this case, we may be vulnerable in our wounded places, especially as the day wears on, with the Moon conjunct to Chiron exactly at 11:21p.m. PDT. Reach out to others with compassion to help address their wounded places.
Saturday and Sunday are fortified with the solid, practical energy of the Taurus Moon. Saturday morning, July 27, the Moon squares Pluto, pushing us toward change. Once we’ve dealt with the discomfort of being out of our comfort zone, we can attend to the practical matters of the day. The Taurus Moon loves familiarity and luxury, and will want to putter at home and in the garden, cleaning, cooking, and make everything more beautiful.
Sunday continues in practical home-oriented mode, supported by a Moon-Saturn sextile, and a Moon-Ceres trine. After getting your house in order, make a delicious meal, and share it with family or friends.
The work week begins Monday with zest for change and a new approach. After the Moon moves into Gemini at 2:28 p.m. PDT we open to clever thoughts and ideas through conversation. The Gemini Moon’s trine to Pluto empowers us to explore new opportunities.

Moon Void of Course:
This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
