In the Stars February 9-16, 2025 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Solar month of Aquarius continues through February 18 tropically, symbolizing innovation, scientific exploration, concern for humanity, and building community.

Uranus and Jupiter are now moving direct, leaving only Mars retrograde until it turns direct February 24. There will then be a brief period when all planets will be in direct motion, until Venus turns retrograde March 2. Venus will be in Aries through June 7, though there will be a period March 28-May 1 in-between when it will dip back into Pisces due to retrograde motion. Venus in Aries invites us to be more active, assertive, and spontaneous. Projects will move forward with more energy in direct motion.

Mars trines Saturn exactly on Sunday, February 9, and remains within a 3-degree orb nearly every day through April 18. This aspect provides focus, precision, and drive. This is excellent energy for more than two months ahead to work diligently on a project, such as writing and editing an article or book, learning lines or music for a performance, or organizing and streamlining your work space or computer. Proceed assertively with determination and carefulness. Aim for mastery and completion.

The Moon reaches its Fullness on Wednesday, February 12, at 5:53 am PDT. Uranus exactly squares the Sun and Moon, with the asteroid Juno (symbolizing the mate/partner) holding space in the 4th point of a Grand Cross. This strong alignment may bring something unexpected, or my jolt you out of a fixed pattern.

Make a calendar reminder to stargaze February 28. If you are lucky enough to have clear skies, you will be able to see Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn in the sky with your naked eyes and Chiron, Uranus and Neptune with a telescope. You can see the planets without Mercury right now. But right now, Mercury is too close to the Sun. The best time to see this alignment will be shortly after sunset. Look for Venus and Saturn in the southwest sky, Jupiter overhead, and Mars in the east.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
