In the Stars February 20-27, 2022...shining light on the astrology of the week
The Sun is now in Pisces, the sign symbolized by two fish. For the next month, the Sun illuminates qualities of imagination, inspiration, intuition, and creativity. Visit art galleries. Paint pictures. Play music. Write poems. Express your creative inspiration.
The week ahead is full of aggravation and strife. Mars, Venus, and Vesta are conjunct in Capricorn and square to Eris. This configuration amplifies conflict. In addition to these transits, transiting Pluto makes the first of three conjunctions to the natal Pluto of the United States. The US Pluto return is upon us. We have been experiencing this for some time, and this week the conjunction is exact. The Russia-Ukraine conflict is on the verge of breaking into war, and the planetary aspects fan the flames.
If you find yourself engaged in personal conflict, take steps to de-escalate the tension. While Pisces (where the Sun is transiting) is about ease, flow and compassion, there is a lot of angry, hostile energy in the air in the coming week.

Contrary to the peacefulness and grace of Saturday, Sunday may be full of aggravations. The Libra Moon squares Venus and Mars early in the day, stirring disconcerted feelings. Later in the day the Moon opposes Eris and squares Pluto. Ouch! The energy is edgy and can feel sharp and frustrating. Still, the Libra Moon will help us express our social graces and move through the day with minimal conflict.
Feelings run deep on Monday as the Moon dives into the dark waters of Scorpio searching for truth. The Moon makes challenging aspects to Mercury and Uranus. Stay focused on your goals, and take some solitary time to nourish yourself. The day might be calmed by a Moon-Jupiter trine late in the evening.
Tuesday is a day of mixed energies, some easy, some challenging. The Scorpio Moon makes opportune sextiles to Mars and Venus, and also a benefic trine to Neptune. These aspects ease the flow of the day, and enable easy connections with others. On the challenging side, Saturn squares the Moon, putting some restraint on the day and drawing attention to our responsibilities.
Early Wednesday morning we emerge from the deep, dark waters of the Scorpio Moon, and we burst into the far-reaching light and bright fire of the Sagittarius Moon. Get moving and exercise. A Mars-Neptune sextile facilitates a connection between personal goals and inspiration. A Mercury-Chiron sextile invites healing conversations. Optimism fuels a bright, sunny day.
Minds crackle with excitement and ideas on Thursday as a result of a Mercury-Uranus square. We think differently. A Moon-Saturn sextile anchors the dreamy Moon-Neptune square. Visionary goals can be manifested. Ordinary thinking can be expanded. The uplifting Sagittarius Moon gives optimism and enthusiasm.
Friday and Saturday are demanding, industrious days with the Moon in Capricorn. This energy is solid and stable; however, Mars, Venus, and Vesta are square to Eris, fueling tensions. This does not bode well for calming the Russia-Ukraine situation. The world’s hot spots may erupt into further violence. The Moon’s sextile to Jupiter on Friday encourages expansion and meeting goals. The Moon’s trine to Uranus on Saturday enables novel approaches to solving problems. Saturday evening’s Moon-Neptune sextile invites us to ease up and relax.
Early morning Sunday (6:49 a.m. PST) the Capricorn Moon makes a powerful conjunction with Pluto. Start the day with bold intentions, vigor, and industry. At 10:35 a.m. PST the Moon moves into Aquarius, expanding our thoughts and awareness, and lightening our energy. We turn our attention to worldly concerns.
The work week begins Monday with the Aquarius Moon making a square aspect to Uranus. There could be a surprising turn of events. On a personal level, consider what needs to change in your life, and how will you influence that shift? With Mars and Venus in dependable Capricorn, and the North Node in solid Taurus, we should be able to respond with calm, strength, and reason.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
