In the Stars December 3-10, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

Mercury turns retrograde on December 12 (13 Eastern time), and it has already entered its shadow period. Now is the time to complete travel plans and get holiday cards and letters addressed and sent. When Mercury is retrograde, there are often mix-ups and mistakes with written and spoken words. Often there are breakdowns with appliances, cars, and equipment. Complete contracts and agreements, and make decisions and arrangements before the three-week retrograde period sets in. The Mercury retrograde period through January 1 is a good time to review, re-consider, and revise.

Venus enters Scorpio on Monday, December 4, inviting deep dives into relationship issues and making stronger commitments.

Neptune turns direct on Wednesday, December 6th, opening our vision and imagination..

A Venus-Pluto square on Sunday, December 3, may draw us into deeper intimacy, or could trigger storms in relationships. This aspect stirs passion. You could use the energy to immerse yourself in an engaging project. Later in the evening the Moon ingresses into Virgo at 7:50 p.m. PDT, and shortly after opposes Saturn. Use this alignment to plan the week and month ahead with meticulous detail.

Monday and Tuesday, December 4 and 5, are the days of the month to get your life in order against the backdrop of a Virgo Moon. On Monday the Virgo Moon forms a Grand Earth Trine with Mercury and Jupiter, a divine aspect that supports us to get a lot accomplished. A Moon-Mars square, though adding tension, may also push us to attend to pressing matters. Venus enters the deep, passionate waters of Scorpio where it will stay until December 29.

Opportunities are presented on Tuesday December 5 as the Moon trines Uranus. Venus and Saturn trine, promising commitment and more intimacy. Late in the evening the Moon opposes Neptune, ushering us into dreamland.

Wednesday December 6 holds a big planetary shift as Neptune stations to turn direct after five months in retrograde motion. When a planet stations, its energy is amplified. Thus, this day is infused with inspiration and dreams, as well as illusion. The Virgo Moon trines Pluto in the morning, calling us to dive deep into work. The Moon moves into Libra at 8:35 a.m. PST, placing relationship issues at the forefront. A Moon-Mercury square in the evening may make for testy communication.

The Libra Moon sets the stage for an agreeable Thursday, December 7. The Moon sextiles Mars in Sagittarius. The Moon sextiles the Sun, and Mercury trines Jupiter. These three benefic aspects give optimism, vision, and hope. Conversation is expansive. This is a glorious day to reach out to others, extend olive branches, love and caring.

The Moon intersects with uncomfortable planets Eris and Pluto, presenting uproar and challenges to the harmony and togetherness that the Libra Moon desires. It might be best to enjoy an evening alone. The Moon ingresses into Scorpio at 7:35 p.m. PST, and trines Saturn. Take some time in the evening to plan the weekend days ahead.

The Scorpio Moon conjuncts Venus on Saturday morning (6:23 a.m. PST), and opposes Jupiter, sweeping us into deep relationship issues. We feel passionate, engaged, and enthusiastic. Mercury makes benefic aspects to Moon/Venus and Jupiter, giving conviviality and ease. This is a good day to wrap up plans and handle communication matters before Mercury turns retrograde on December 12.

Sunday morning, December 10, may bring some surprises due to the Moon’s opposition to Uranus. The evening’s Moon-Neptune trine offers compassion and forgiveness. This would be a good night to relax and watch a movie.

Monday and Tuesday are merry and bright with a Sagittarius Moon. However, the Moon’s square to Saturn Monday morning reminds us of limitations and responsibilities. An agreeable Mercury-Venus sextile lifts our spirits, and offers easy, generous acts of kindness. Spread good cheer.

Listen to provocative music that taps into deep feelings. 6. Purge your stuff and give things away. 7. Get a massage. 8. Listen deeply, and say only what is necessary. 9. Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
