In the Stars August 25-September 1, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun is now in practical, industrious Virgo, inviting us to clean up the clutter in our lives, get more organized, and strive for self-improvement.

Mercury continues retrograde through Wednesday, August 28, when it will station and then move direct. There are a few more days for reviewing, re-thinking, re-organizing, and re-working ideas and projects. Mercury, Saturn, Chiron, Neptune, and Pluto are all in retrograde motion, turning us inward to ponder next steps.

Uranus stations on Sunday, September 2, to turn retrograde for the next five months through January 30, joining Saturn, Chiron, Neptune, and Pluto in retrograde motion. Pluto moves into Capricorn also on Sunday, through November 19, for the last time for the next two centuries.

______

Saturday and Sunday, August 24-25, host a Taurus Moon, luring us toward sensual pleasures for the weekend. Taurus is a fixed earth sign where we are practical and grounded. This is good for gardening, cooking, and beautifying our homes. Adorn your home with fresh flowers, dance through your weekend chores, and set a beautiful table for a scrumptious dinner. Mars sextiles Chiron, encouraging healing interactions. Saturday holds a benefic Moon-Saturn sextile that will aid the productivity of the day.

The Moon’s monthly conjunction with Uranus occurs on Sunday, changing our routines and liberating us from entanglements. The day may go other than planned and deliver a few surprises. At 8:03 p.m. PDT the Moon moves into Gemini.

The Gemini Moon invites conversation and connection on Monday, August 26. Make phone calls and answer emails that are waiting to be addressed. Reach out to siblings. Venus and Uranus are trine the next few days, perfecting on Tuesday. This alignment adds some excitement and gives new life to relationships.

We are uplifted early Tuesday, August 27, by an upbeat Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Gemini. The day fosters lively conversation and curiosity. A Moon-Mars conjunction late afternoon fuels the conversant energy, encouraging connection with friends for a lively happy hour or dinner.

A dreamy, creative Venus-Neptune opposition is big planetary news on Wednesday, in addition to Mercury reaching its station and turning direct. The Moon is in Cancer, so we may want to withdraw into our shell and focus on home and family. The day is likely to be one of many fluctuations, since Mercury is in the limelight.

Thursday, August 29, is my birthday!  Venus glides into Libra, the sign it rules, where it is graceful and at peace. Venus trines Pluto, creating a strong pull toward the things and people we love. The Moon receives a supportive trine from Saturn in Pisces, making practical matters easy to manifest.

We see the big picture, and imagine a more idealistic future early Friday morning as the Moon makes benefic aspects to outer planets Uranus and Neptune. At 10:09 a.m. PDT the Moon moves into playful Leo. It’s the end of the work week, and the Leo Moon calls for a celebration Friday evening, ushering in a fun weekend.

Saturday, August 31, is another playful day for celebration, an easy day with few aspects. This an excellent day for a party,

Closing out the weekend, the creative Leo Moon continues to shine its light on Sunday, September 1, until 8:48 p.m. PDT when the Moon goes into Virgo. Uranus makes a station to turn retrograde, amplifying energy for disruptions, surprises, and change. Retrograde Pluto goes back into Capricorn, making its final debut in this earth sign until November 19, when it arrives in Aquarius again going forward. These two shifts will likely have a stalling, disruptive influence on world affairs for a while.

Monday holds a New Moon in Virgo, inviting us to get our lives in order. Set goals for the month ahead around the Virgo themes of cleaning, organizing, and self-improvement. The Moon-Jupiter square may contribute to a feeling of overextension, yet give us optimism to deliver.

Moon Void of Course:

This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
