In the Stars October 1-8, 2017…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

There is a potent Full Moon mid-week, exact on Thursday, that highlights numerous planetary patterns, some challenging, and some easing. On the heels of the exact Jupiter-Uranus opposition, the week ahead again invites us to stretch our limits, go beyond our boundaries, and to seize big, bold opportunities. Breakthroughs are possible. The beginning of the week is soft and visionary, and then from Wednesday afternoon onward, we will want to act boldly with initiative and enthusiasm. Then the weekend is framed for relaxing and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

Sunday hearkens friendship. A beautiful Sun-Moon trine gives us the feeling that all is well. A powerful Mars-Pluto trine on Sunday gives a big boost of willpower and ambition. In addition, a benefic sextile between the Moon and Saturn gives even more determination and focus. Give yourself the gift of a strong work-out or a vigorous hike. Join with friends on a collaborative work project. This is not a leisurely Sunday. Rather, it is one packed with brilliant thinking and productivity. After you have made the most of the day, enjoy a dinner of ethnic exploration, as Aquarius encourages us to embrace diversity and other cultures. Aquarius also heightens global concerns. Make another donation to one of the perilous places in the world where there has been a recent disaster. Many people are particularly in peril in Puerto Rico, so consider them.

The work week starts softly, colored by the vision and inspiration of a Pisces Moon in benefic aspect to Uranus and Jupiter. Yoga would be a good choice for exercise for the day, stretching and building flexibility and strength. Play inspiring music throughout the day. Allow your imagination to soar, and listen to your intuition. Do a random act of kindness.

Attention is on love and money on Tuesday. Passions are stirred by a powerful Venus-Pluto trine. Emotions run high with the vulnerable, watery Pisces Moon opposite Mars and Venus in Virgo. Consider Tuesday’s thoughts regarding love and money as precursors to the work to be done soon when Jupiter moves into Scorpio on October 10.

Wednesday morning is dreamy and unfocused, with the Moon Void of Course in Pisces. Attend to routine tasks, and don’t waste your time in meetings or doing anything requiring decisions. At 1:40 p.m. PDT there is a big lunar shift from watery Pisces to fiery Aries. Then it is time to get moving…boldly, quickly, and confidently.

The Harvest Moon, the Full Moon in Aries, draws us toward an emotional peak on Thursday. Balancing individual needs with relationship needs is the theme at this high time of the month. The patterns in this Full Moon are potent: two tense T-squares (when two planets are in opposition and one planet is in the middle at 90 degrees from the opposing planets) and two powerful Grand Trines. Pluto squares the Full Moon, forming one T-square that creates emotional tension. This is a cardinal T-square that will trigger action. A second T-square between Chiron, Saturn, and Venus/Mars is a mutable T-square, calling for sensitivity, patience, and considering old wounds that need to be healed and work to be done. To ease the tension of the T-squares there are two Grand Trines. One is an Earth Grand Trine (Pluto, Pallas Athena, and Venus and Mars), giving grounding and practicality. The other is a Fire Grand Trine (Saturn, Uranus, and the North Node), which gives vision and inspiration. As if these patterns already weren’t enough, the Jupiter-Uranus opposition catalyzes the creative power of this Full Moon. These powerful mid-week energies give us the opportunity to expand our potential and flow with the waves of fresh vitality, letting go of what is no longer useful, and embracing new possibilities.

The high energy of the Full Moon is punctuated on Friday as the Moon moves into a conjunction with Uranus and opposes Jupiter at the end of the Aries-Libra axis. Expect disruptions, discoveries, surprises, and insights. After the excitement of the last three days, relax on Friday evening as the Moon moves into Taurus, its sign of exaltation where it functions at its best. This is the time of the month to pleasure the senses, and this Taurus Moon will shine all weekend. Celebrate the beginning of the weekend with a beautiful, leisurely, and delicious dinner.

Saturday is staged for a practical, productive day supported by the fixed earth Taurus Moon that makes a benefic trine to Pluto. This would be an excellent day for gardening, or for any project that makes your home more beautiful. Taurus loves to please the taste buds, so enjoy delicious, beautiful, and nourishing meals. Taurus is slow, so go at a leisurely pace to get some things accomplished, and listen to your play-lists while you work.

The Taurus Moon continues to color Sunday beautiful, but a tense Venus-Saturn square may put a damper on your day. You may feel uptight about relationship or money issues. The Moon is Void of Course for 12 hours from 6:45 a.m.to 6:44 p.m. PDT. Make it a leisurely day attending to routine tasks such as attending to your finances and paying bills. Take a walk in a park to express the Taurus Moon and ease the day’s tension. The curious, chatty Gemini Moon arrives at 6:44 p.m. PDT. Solidify your weekend by planning the connections and communication that need to be made early in the week.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
